Okay, ready? Next week is Thanksgiving week!! Holy moly, that one snuck up on me.
One thing that seems to come up on people?s minds this time of year is staying healthy through the holidays (and through the winter, for that matter). There are many ways to build your immunity, and I will discuss some of those in early December. This week, I will tell you that one important way to build health, lose weight, increase energy, slow aging, and build immunity?is to eat boatloads of VEGGIES.
The recommended intake for vegetables is between 7-9 servings (one serving = ? cup) per day. ?Laurie Warren, you crazy lady, are you for real?! Four or more CUPS of veggies a day? Because now, I will tell you that one main way to get closer to optimal intake, and thereby closer to vibrant health, is to BLEND or JUICE your veggies. If you make this smoothie recipe, and drink half of it (and save the other half for tomorrow), you?ll be getting THREE CUPS of veggies on each of those days. Yahoo! And, due to the ingredients, it?s a meal in a cup. Easy peasy.
Green Machine Shake
- 1 avocado
- 1 medium cucumber (with skin)
- 4 stalks of celery (with leafy tops, if possible)
- Juice of one lemon
- 2 scoops clean, non-soy, protein powder (Whey Factors unflavored is a good one)
- ? tsp. Celtic sea salt or Himalayan rock salt
- 1 ? c. water
- Dash of cayenne pepper (optional)
